Mithraism quickly spread to all parts of the Roman empire. Much of what we know about Mithraism comes from sculptures. Mithraism emphasized the immortality of the soul, and the resurrection of the dead. On his death bed, the Emperor renounced Mithraism and was baptized into Christianity. The cult of Mithraism was restricted to male worshippers. Mithraism was popular among the Romans until the 4th Century.
