Eight students (36.4%) feels that they didn't do well enough due to nervousness and stagefright.
The interviews also revealed that stagefright can be transient and unpredictable.
Others indicated that stagefright was unpredictable and that nerves could overcome them even when playing the same programme in a series where everything had previously been successful.
Although strategies were adopted in relation to stagefright, these tended to focus on reducing fear rather than as a positive means of alleviating any detrimental effects on performance.
