释义 | BETA Examples of protolithprotolith isn’t in the Cambridge Dictionary yet. You can help! The orthogneisses are the main protolith of the mylonites. The resulting 2 standard deviation thresholds plotted give a measure of the variation inherent for each element in that interval in the protolith. Ages of primary, magmatic or metamorphic, crystallization and protolith ages (inherited zircon cores/crystals) are thus obtained routinely. All these characteristics would be expected for partial melts of an enriched protolith at relatively high pressures. A few apparent cores also were targeted as possibly representing inheritance from an older protolith. An alternative explanation is that these contrasts could be due to local protolith variation. However, there are significant differences in protolith and in age of metamorphism. The values concerned were exceptional, lying well outside the ranges of the lower grade protolith, and were considered not to be due to metasomatic effects. Although model ages are notoriously unreliable indicators of protolith crystallization, there are several reasons for optimism in this particular case. The plagioclase laths are believed to represent relict plagioclase phenocrysts in the volcanic protolith. These lithologies do not form part of the protolith classification data suite. The swarm is thought to have been emplaced penecontemporaneously with the granite sheets that formed the igneous protolith of the gneiss. The restitic quartz grains are smaller, more rounded in shape, and less abundant, possibly due to the finer-grained protolith. We use trace element geochemistry to constrain the protolith source of the amphibolites. The protolith of the amphibolite is likely to be basalt and/or gabbro. Local protolith variation is another possible explanation. |
