It was a ski slope of unusual lubricity. Fuel pump failures can easily happen if a driver uses diesel with inadequate lubricity. Some systems heat the fuel, which overcomes its lack of lubricity. Mining equipment must retain good lubricity, so that the surfaces can slide against the rock with little friction.
