These individuals potentially could experience their very first episodeofdepression during the follow-up. Finally, each additional episodeofdepression was associated with a longer time to remission. In such instances, even a moderate amount of stress could bring about another episodeofdepression. As noted above, at the time of the follow-up interview respondents reported only the most recent episodeofdepression. Depressed probands experiencing a recurrent episodeofdepression tended to have higher scores than those experiencing their first episode. Furthermore, no continuation or maintenance study has evaluated the use of an atypical antipsychotic in patients presenting with an index episodeofdepression. The vast majority (84 %) of those diagnosed with a depressive disorder at index experienced a further episodeofdepression over the 25-year follow-up. Respondents in this subsample are unlikely to have had more than one episodeofdepression within 12 months prior to the followup interview. Both studies have shown that those with recurrent depression are significantly less likely to have experienced a provoking event compared to those experiencing their first episodeofdepression. The aim of this study was to elicit preferences for the former and it was therefore decided to ask patients to recall their first episodeofdepression. The index episode was their first and only episodeofdepression for all of those who recovered and remained continuously well for the entire follow-up period. This suggests that having a previous episodeofdepression could lead to the development of a more extreme dysfunctional cognitive style, particularly in the achievement domain. The siblings of depressed probands, did not differ significantly in their dysfunctional attitudes from the siblings of control probands, (excluding all siblings who have had an episodeofdepression). Survival time was censored at 12 months for those not identified as having had an episodeofdepression within 12 months prior to the month of their follow-up interview. In keeping with previous studies, subjects in their first episodeofdepression were more likely to have had an event provoked onsets than subjects who had experienced previous episodes. Each episodeofdepression makes it easier for the neurotransmitter system to become deregulated. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license.
