In the work on concurrent constraintprogramming, closure operators are studied in terms of their sets of fixpoints. The work presented here was motivated by concurrent constraintprogramming but contributes mainly to the area functional programming. Chapter 13 discusses constraintprogramming over reals using interval constraint solving. First, to give a formal proof-theoretic view of constraint propagation and search, the two main ingredients of constraintprogramming. The development of multi-agent systems requires training in different software engineering paradigms, such as object-oriented programming, distributed and concurrent programming, constraintprogramming, and structured programming. A frame-based constraintprogramming language provides a designer with the expressiveness required to describe the various aspects of the design problem effectively. The aim of this paper is to show that constraintprogramming can be entirely rendered by means of rule-based programming. Soft constraintprogramming allows us to conduct a fine analysis of the confidentiality and authentication goals that a protocol attempts to achieve. Therefore, all results presented here also apply to concurrent constraintprogramming. Search is a fundamental part of constraintprogramming. Several languages and systems for constraintprogramming are nowadays available either as research and commercial packages. The second part discusses programming techniques and implementation aspects related to constraint programming by the use of constraint logic programming for concrete examples. Moreover, they are different and cover several application domains of constraintprogramming. The developments of the recent years have shown that constraintprogramming is a new fascinating programming paradigm with a big potential for practical applications. Recently, there has been a revival of interest in rule-based programming in the context of constraintprogramming. It has been applied to various formalisms and paradigms including flow-charts and imperative, functional, logic, and constraintprogramming. We expose how we have integrated taxonomic reasoning in the constraintprogramming schema. We conclude by showing that this latter question can, in turn, be encoded in weight constraintprogramming. Section 4 discusses how this theory can be modeled in a constraintprogramming language. These examples are from corpora and from sources on the web.
