If the observer is only a short distance south of the low-pressure centre, then the coldfront would follow rapidly. The coldfront itself usually contains strong winds, and is often preceded by a squall line containing truly dangerous winds. The horizontal gradient of the buoyancy term always tends to propagate the coldfront. In their studies they assumed that the flow in the coldfront was motionless relative to the moving front. The direction remained fairly constant until it veered to around 220x when the coldfront went through around 1323 hours. Here a curved warm front on the eastern side meets a curved coldfront that follows it. The atmospheric pressure rises as the coldfront passes. As the core of the cyclone passes, the coldfront of a high-pressure zone follows, generally accompanied by a squall line that brings violent and destructive winds. A slow-moving coldfront covered much of the operational area, giving conditions of dense cloud from 700 feet to 15,000 feet. From the Hansard archive Example from the Hansard archive. Contains Parliamentary information licensed under the Open Parliament Licence v3.0 After maintaining peak winds for about 18 hours, the storm rapidly weakened, as it interacted with an approaching coldfront. Its associated coldfront traversed much of the outbreak affected area with several supercells forming ahead of front. The fast moving coldfront pushed a storm through the city rather quickly, dumping 0.81 inches of rainfall in a relatively short time. Maintaining hurricane status for about 18 hours, the storm continued rapidly northeastward and weakened due to strong wind shear from the approaching coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. When this happens a new low center will form on the triple-point (the point where the coldfront, warm front, and occluded front meet). From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. The convection continued to wrap around the center, and despite unfavorable conditions from an approaching coldfront it continued to intensify. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Shortly thereafter, the remnants of the storm merged with a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. What was needed now was a trigger, and that came in the form of a trailing coldfront behind the low. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. In the vicinity of the reversal aloft, severe weather is possible, especially when a triple point is formed with a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. A few hours later, the former hurricane was absorbed by the coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. During that time, the storm re-intensified and briefly approached hurricane intensity, although it failed to strengthen further due to interaction with a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. That day, the cyclone rounded the ridge and turned to the south and southeast, and weakened again due to an approaching coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Heavy rain fell after moist air surged ahead of a strong coldfront and low-pressure system, leaving many rivers are swollen. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. At this time a coldfront to the north and a subtropical ridge positioned behind it forced the storm to turn sharply to the north-northeast. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. This rapid acceleration was due to the cyclone's interaction with a coldfront to its south. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. On the second day, the stronger coldfront limited discrete supercell activity and the risk of tornadoes decreased significantly. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. The occasional passage of a coldfront will bring rain followed by a few days of cooler temperatures. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. All of these elements resulted from the passage of a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. While the day and night after the passage of a strong coldfront from the north might see bitterly cold weather, temperatures rapidly warm afterwards. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. The coldfront had passed to the north and failed to bring the typhoon northeastward. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. The tornado outbreak was caused by wind shear, moist air from the storm, and cool air from an approaching coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Initially, the depression did not strengthen and was nearby absorbed by a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Cold air from the remnants of a coldfront became entrained within the circulation; however, the cold air gradually warmed. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. It could also be created in other phenomenon, such as a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Little did they know that the coldfront would be far colder and would arrive much sooner than expected. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. The storm continued moving rapidly northeastward and began to interact with a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. An approaching coldfront subsequently induced higher wind shear on the cyclone as it tracked northeastward into cooler waters; this led to weakening. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Typically, if there is any heavy precipitation, it will accompany the passage of the coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. The trailing convergence zone was referred to as the squall line or coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Lapse rates yielded limited instability for severe weather, with a secondary coldfront acting as a trigger. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Cumulonimbus can form alone, in clusters, or along coldfront squall lines. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. A strong low pressure area associated with an upper-level system moving in from the southwest and a nearby slow-moving coldfront helped spark the storms. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. In the early 20th century, the term was used as a synonym for coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. However, the depression degenerated a few hours later when it merged with the coldfront that had caused its acceleration. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. Around that time, the hurricane began a turn to the east-southeast, as the ridge to its north built behind the passage of a coldfront. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license.
