It shows that nursing homes were the primary focus of citizenadvocacy in long-term care. In particular, it is useful to note the growing significance of citizenadvocacy. This research attempts to fill this gap in the literature by providing information on 47 citizenadvocacy groups that focus on nursing-home care. When one thinks of citizenadvocacy in health care, groups that come to mind advocate for individuals with a specific disease or set of conditions related to particular organ systems. It is a term which is used rather loosely, leaving its interpretation open, but generally there are three recognized kinds of advocacy; self-advocacy, citizenadvocacy and legal advocacy.
