However, there are several technical hurdles to be overcome before an antimatter rocket can be built. All of those missions could be performed by fusion or antimatter rockets with a mass ratio of 5:1 or less. The principle is simple: an equal mixture of matter and antimatter provides the highest energy density of any known propellant. Even with the improved antiproton production and storage capacities expected soon, this amount of antimatter is beyond our reach. The first is that antimatter does not exist in significant amounts in nature, at least, not anywhere near this solar system. The main mechanism for heating the liquid droplet is antimatter-induced fission fragments which have a range of 45 mm in the droplet. I shall argue that the acceleration is a consequence of the excess of matter over antimatter in the universe. For missions within the solar system and into near interstellar space, antimatter requirements for the catalyzed concepts are many orders of magnitude lower than their pure antimatter counterparts. Antimatter annihilation requires antimatter, which is hard to come by in this matter filled world. Appropriate vessel designs will be presented for fusion as well as for antimatter propulsion. Until we get nuclear power and antimatter, we should be conserving our resources. From the Hansard archive Example from the Hansard archive. If matter and antimatter responded oppositely to a gravitational field, then it would take no energy to change the height of a particle-antiparticle pair.
