词汇 | evacuee |
释义 | evacuee noun[ C ] uk /ɪˌvæk.juˈiː/ us /ɪˌvæk.juˈiː/ someone who is evacuated from a dangerous place, especially during a war: (尤指战争中的)被撤离者,被疏散者 Thousands of evacuees crossed the border to safety.数以千计的被疏散者越过边界到达了安全地带。 Runaways and refugees absconder boat people coyote defector deserter displace displaced person escapee evader fugitive non-refoulement refoul refoulement refugee refugee camp runaway skip UNHCR Examples of evacueeevacuee Whenever the quarters were sold, they were evicted and asked to settle their claims against the evacuees' property. In practice, the evacuee existed somewhere between the two, neither refugee nor deportee, but bearing elements of each. First, it reflected a tendency to view evacuees as socially unproductive and undeserving members of the polity. A gender-matched classmate from the same homeroom was selected for each evacuee child. Central directives issued in the first several months of the war effectively established a system of differential access for evacuees to the country's major cities. As we have seen, the report blamed parents for the state of the evacuees' footwear and clothing, and recommended needlework classes in schools. Unlike the terms evacuee and deportee, the term refugee (bezhenets) was not a formal, administrative category during the war. While most evacuees were eager to return home, not all were granted the necessary papers. The least privileged evacuees came to think of themselves as discarded 'elements'. The realignment from refugee to evacuee thus recast the role of the state. This did not, however, prevent the mass of evacuees from being regarded with suspicion. The absence of a collective ethos was perhaps most apparent in the transportation and accommodation of evacuees outside of the city boundaries. Similar complaints were repeatedly made about evacuees, despite the ostensibly clear refusal to impose the same restrictions on their movements. Even without such differences, the evacuees could still have been more vulnerable to the effects of these stresses. This is not to say, however, that evacuees were well provided for.
