The most accurate way to assess the presence and severity of coronary disease is a coronary angiogram. A pulmonary angiogram is performed by injecting a small amount of dye to identify the location and anatomy of pulmonary veins. For a traditional angiogram, a catheter is inserted into a vein in the patient's leg and guided through the body to the heart. The examination comprises an easily performed radionuclide angiogram.
