Although marriages are becoming less stable in that divorce rates continue to rise, many divorcees remarry or cohabit with another partner. The same is the case for the support of the parents or siblings of the patient (with the exception of the divorcees). Standardizing the census women on the de jure durations of the divorcees provides a figure of 18% infertile. The divorcees, that is to say, were more fertile than those remaining married. Since 1938, a discipline had been followed whereby remarried divorcees, automatically excommunicated, were readmitted to communion at the discretion of the bishop. Even their chapter focuses on future baby-boomer divorcees (and their projected retirement income) rather than current divorcees. As a result, neither of these chapters examines the lived experience of current older divorcees, surely a missed opportunity. Our discussion of single-parenthood, however, indicates that divorcees and single-parents do not remarry out of dedication to the institution. As we shall see, this perception is tied to the prevalent practice in the field of pressuring divorcees to reach an agreement. All interviewed divorcees reported that at least one therapeutic professional had been involved in their divorce process. Present estimates are that some two-thirds of divorcees will eventually remarry. The equivalent percentages were 64 for divorcees, widows and widowers living alone, and 53 (significantly lower) for the repartnered. However, a large proportion of divorcees do eventually remarry. Currently very few people enter old age as divorcees. See all examples of divorcee These examples are from corpora and from sources on the web.
