These infants were all treated with antiarrhythmic drugs, including digoxin and amiodarone. The patient developed major respiratory problems with retention of carbon dioxide despite endotracheal intubation and treatment with diuretics and digoxin. Routine treatment with digoxin was performed in the majority of the cases, with diuretics in a few of them and with vasodilators in one. Treatment was continued with digoxin, diuretics and nifedipine (one case) and captopril (two cases). She was given digoxin for management of congestive heart failure and referred for surgery. At two years of age, she was commenced on treatment with digoxin and furosemide. Fetal dosages of digoxin and propafenone never did reach therapeutic levels. Supraventricular tachycardia (rate 250/min) was noted preoperatively and treatment with digoxin and subsequently amiodarone was given which controlled the arrhythmia.
