The mandibular foramen opens as a small pit anterior to the notch between the angular process and the condyle. The crest is offset from the proximal end, but connected with the anterior end of the fibular condyle by a low, rounded edge. The condyle is more or less cylindrical and located at the level of the tooth row (above the alveolar border). The deltopectoral crest has been badly distorted and now lies in the same orientation as a vertical plane through the distal condyles. In the last five degrees or so of extension, the tibia rotates on the femoral condyles to lock the knee. The frontal struts are fused to the mandibular struts, which bear condyles for the articulation of the mandibles. They are separated from each other medially by the incompletely preserved posterior articular condyle, which is dorsoventrally flattened. Once the singular condyle is broken, the maxilla is easily pulled from the head. It is isolated from the articular condyle by a distal notch. The medial condyle has a small, triangular, posteriorly pointing process. The articular facet extends from this crest laterally onto the flat proximal surface of the fibular condyle. The ventral edge of the exoccipital gives no indication that it contacted its counter part beneath the foramen magnum or formed any part of the occipital condyle. Finally, the skull tapers towards the rear, where the foramen magnum lies immediately above a single condyle, articulating with the first vertebra.
