A patient with agranulocytosis may not show many systemic signs of infection. Because of the risk of agranulocytosis, clozapine should not be tried until at least 2 other antipsychotic medicines have failed. As an uncommon side effect, there is increased risk of seizures or agranulocytosis. Most cases of agranulocytosis occur between week 4 and week 10 of treatment.
