wring something's neck phrase to kill a bird or other animal by twisting and breaking its neck: 拧断(鸟或其他动物的)脖子;掐死 I hated doing it but I had to wring their necks or they'd have suffered long, agonising deaths. My grandma used to wring the birds' necks with her bare hands. If she found an injured bird, she would finish it off by wringing its neck. The trappers wring their necks when they find them.
