The mixed metal carbide and nitride may be formed by cosmic ray bombardment of metal nitrides. Samples were crushed in a porcelain jaw crusher and powdered in a tungsten carbide shatterbox. The sample was collected by drilling with a 2.5-mm tungsten carbide bit after discarding the first 1.5 mm.
