释义 | spinal ganglion noun[ C ] anatomy specializeduk /ˌspaɪ.nəl ˈɡæŋ.ɡli.ən/ us /ˌspaɪ.nəl ˈɡæŋ.ɡli.ən/pluralspinal gangliauk /ˌspaɪ.nəl ˈɡæŋ.ɡli.ə/ us /ˌspaɪ.nəl ˈɡæŋ.ɡli.ə/ a mass of nerve cells where the root(= beginning) of a spinal nerve connects to the back of the spinal cord that sends signals about physical feelings to the central nervous system: The spinal cord, nerve roots, and spinal ganglia appeared normal. The dorsal roots are the bundles of sensory fibres passing into the cord from each spinal ganglion. The fibres of the spinal ganglia are essentially sensory or afferent, conveying impulses from the periphery towards the cord, and up the cord towards the higher nervous centres. The anterior and the posterior nerve roots join immediately beyond the spinal ganglion to form the spinal nerve. In the spinal ganglia, the nerve cells are much larger, and for the most part collected in groups near the periphery.
