词汇 | sonorant |
释义 | BETA Examples of sonorantsonorant isn’t in the Cambridge Dictionary yet. You can help! In this language, closed syllables are heavy only if their coda is a sonorant. The tone of the major syllable (/noh/) is low in both cases, determined by the initial voiced sonorant /n/ of this syllable. The feature is, however, licensed by other segment types, for example, by sonorant consonants since only some are approximants and others are nasals. In addition, the quality of the sonorant becomes fully predictable : it is realised as a nasal homorganic with the following stop. The results on /s/+sonorant sequences are presented first, followed by the results on /s/+stop sequences. The sonorant of the cluster is devoiced, which yields a sonority profile sufficient to avoid violation of this constraint. The first nucleus position, which is the only obligatory position, is always linked with a vowel, whereas the second can be a sonorant consonant. These two features serve to distinguish glides, sonorant consonants and obstruents from one another. It is impossible to analyse such a pattern without some sequence constraints, using only general constraints against sonorant onsets. The relative likelihood of deletion cannot be predicted in this case since this contrast is independent from the contrast observed in sonorant+stop combinations. Accent 2 would minimally have three sonorant moras which contain either a trimoraic vowel or a geminate, again a characterisation involving a disjunction. This vowel shows the properties of intrusive vowels listed in (2) : it copies over a sonorant, and is optionally absent in casual speech. The additional data provided show that a glottal stop may appear adjacent to a sonorant, without deriving a glottalised sonorant. The nouns chosen were usually bisyllabic with initial stress (in some cases trisyllabic with initial or penultimate stress, or monosyllabic with a sonorant coda). |
