释义 | osteoid noun[ U ] anatomy specializeduk /ˈɒs.ti.ɔɪd/ us /ˈɑː.sti.ɔɪd/ new bone that has not yet calcified(= become hard): Rickets is a failure of the osteoid, the cellular matrix of the bone, to become mineralized. This results in increased amounts of osteoid (unmineralized bone) and decreased mineralized bone. In this abnormality, the osteoblasts in bone continue to synthesize osteoid, but this material is not mineralized. The newly formed osteoid is rapidly converted into hard bone matrix by the deposition of hydroxyapatite crystals between the closely packed collagen fibres. Defective mineralization results in an increase in the thickness of the osteoid seams and not in failure of osteoid formation.
