You can buy loot boxes with real or game money and you do not usually know what is inside until you open it: Loot boxes allow players to spend money to unlock in-game rewards, such as special characters, weapons or outfits, without knowing what they will get. When the gamer buys a loot crate, they are guaranteed something they can use in the game. Loot boxes have attracted comparison with gambling. Children and young people should not be able to purchase loot boxes without parental approval. Lootboxes are in-game features that allow consumers to either spend real-world money or stake in-game items for a chance of winning something of an unknown value. |
