a long and narrow ship with one square sail(= sheet of material attached to a pole to catch the wind and make the ship move) and many oars(= long poles with a wide, flat part at one end, used for moving a boat), used by the Viking people:
It was too small for a Viking longship, but not sufficiently decorated to be the ship of a king.
Vikings set out on longships from Scandinavia, and ended up in places like Scotland and Ireland.
TheViking longship was the design classic of its age.
He looks like a modern Viking and could probably row a longship on his own.
