释义 | BETA Examples of intertidalintertidal isn’t in the Cambridge Dictionary yet. You can help! We independently characterized cyanobacterial, bacterial, and archaeal groups, and their spatial variations for two microbial mat systems: subtidal hypersaline mats and intertidal sand flat mats. Faecal coliforms were present in intertidal pools adjacent to sewage effluent discharge but not in any other water bodies tested. The keystone species concept: variation in interaction strength in a rocky intertidal habitat. Here, the likely interactions between climate change and parasitism are discussed in the context of intertidal ecosystems. At low tide, the vast intertidal zone is a major resting and feeding ground for large populations of endogenous and migratory birds. Parts of both intertidal mats are continuously water-logged. Then, we examine the known effects of parasites on intertidal hosts. The inference was that infection could jeopardize host survival in the intertidal zone. Thus, the direct impact of the two trematode species on their cockle hosts has cascading effects extending to the entire intertidal community. This response, called metabolic rate depression, has been well studied in sessile intertidal invertebrates and involves some interesting modifications in intermediary metabolism. Similar results are likely to be obtained with intertidal species. This result suggests an overlooked base for intertidal food chains without exogenous input. There is, however, one very well-studied host- parasite association, between an intertidal amphipod and its trematode parasites, for which sufficient information is available. In intertidal ecosystems, as well as in other systems, trematodes are obvious candidates for temperaturemediated increases in local abundance. Obviously, higher temperatures will also impact the other ectothermic animals living in the intertidal zone, in ways that may nullify the greater proliferation of trematodes. Here, all groups exhibited statistically significant increases in richness and diversity from the upper to lower intertidal (as desiccation frequency decreases). Some intertidal marine species and euryhaline limno-terrestrial species can tolerate variations in salinity. We emphasize two ways in which parasites can modify the structure of intertidal communities. Among the metazoans, trematodes are the most common parasites of intertidal animals. |
