The ischium, forming the lower and back part of the innominate bone, is the strongest portion of the bone. The innominate bones articulate with the sacrum at the back. The bones which form the pelvis are the two innominate bones, the sacrum, and the coccyx. The femur articulates with the acetabular cavity of the innominate bone.
