There was no evidence that inbreeding depression differed between the populations for any of the periods of mortality. However, the population became split into sublines separated by age classes, which substantially increased inbreeding within sublines. A key property of such an objective function is that it keeps the method used for genetic evaluation and the restriction in inbreeding separated. For slow breeding plants and animals, especially for those suffering from inbreeding depression, this option is not realistic. Here we study the effect of population size on the inbreeding depression caused by mildly deleterious alleles. We found that the model has low statistical power when inbreeding depression is caused by the build-up of mildly deleterious alleles. In these models, inbreeding depression is assumed to affect zygote-to-adult viability only. From this study there does not appear to be an obvious optimum inbreeding rate as far as mean viability is concerned. The lines were fully viable and showed no signs of inbreeding depression. Other forms of non-random mating should also be considered, especially in vertebrate hosts, such as homogamy or biparental inbreeding. Higher proportions of ambiguous offspring than expected under random mating might reflect inbreeding by some parents whereas lower proportions might reflect outbreeding. Male-male competition magnifies inbreeding depression in wild house mice. There is also much to be learned about recruitment of parasites by their various hosts, inbreeding within local populations and dispersal patterns. Moreover, although unlikely, one may argue that the target fish could be immunosuppressed due to inbreeding. These examples are from corpora and from sources on the web.
