Higher proportions of ambiguous offspring than expected under random mating might reflect inbreeding by some parents whereas lower proportions might reflect outbreeding. Male-male competition magnifies inbreeding depression in wild house mice. There is also much to be learned about recruitment of parasites by their various hosts, inbreeding within local populations and dispersal patterns.
