Within each prefecture, the geomorphology is flat and no obvious geographical barriers exist. However, the authors have missed a good opportunity to include modern contributions from tectonic geomorphology, especially advances made by analysing morphometric indices of active tectonism. The subjects range from physical geography, especially geomorphology and pedology, to archaeology and history of the region. The emphasis of the contributions is mostly on bedrock geology (stratigraphy, palaeontology, structures, metamorphism and petrology) although two studies of geomorphology are included. The authors are geomorphologists who believe that the importance of geomorphology in understanding mountain building has been under-appreciated by the geological community. It assessed the location, area, and other characteristics of contaminated sites, and the geomorphology and sedimentary characteristics of the terrain. This book aims to provide such students, and less-experienced researchers, with a practical guide to a range of techniques in glaciology and glacial geomorphology. The range of topics is broad, covering plate tectonics, the earth's heat, kinematics and mechanics of the lithosphere (including, surprisingly at first, geomorphology), continental dynamics, and metamorphic processes. The distribution of the bromeliads was determined by the availability of substrate (branch surface area per quadrat), the proximity of conspecifics and the geomorphology of the terrain. Tectonic geomorphology process models build their fledgeling edifices on this mighty foundation. Overall, this is an excellent book and certainly represents compulsory reading for undergraduate and postgraduate students who wish to carry out fieldwork in glaciology and glacial geomorphology. The remainder of the book is divided into superbly comprehensive chapters on a variety of techniques in glaciology and those used to investigate and map glacial geomorphology. I take this view because the park is a natural area of international importance, owing to its geomorphology, ecology, biodiversity and cultural significance. From Europarl Parallel Corpus - English |
