释义 | Gelbvieh noun[ C or U ] uk /ˈɡelb.fiː/ us /ˈɡelb.fiː/pluralGelbvieh or Gelbviehs a type of cow, originally bred in Germany and kept for its meat: During the 20th century, breeds such as Charolais, Limousin, and Gelbvieh became more prevalent due to their leaner meat characteristics. At least 70 percent of the country's beef cattle are black; other breeds, like Gelbvieh and Limousin, have red-brown hides. Gelbviehs were originally bred to be used for milk, beef, and pulling, but the modern Gelbvieh is mainly used for beef. The genetic distance between the South Devon and the Gelbvieh of central Germany is closer than between the South Devon and the Hereford. The photos show Gelbvieh, Chianina, and Blonde d'Aquitaine cattle herds, which were among the first of those breeds in Britain. The AGA Hall of Fame in Nebraska recognizes individuals for lasting contributions to the growth and development of the Gelbvieh breed.
