The gallberries restricted the view much more than I expected. Gallberry bushes dominated the landscape. The bench was half-hidden behind gallberry and palmetto. Gallberry fruits are eaten by a variety of birds, including wild turkey and quail. Light filtered through the leaves, allowing thickets of shrubs such as saw palmetto and gallberry to grow.
