This book addresses the ways in which heritage-oriented urbandevelopment projects have been conceived, planned, funded, implemented and sustained on this difficult terrain. It further elaborates on the demand to 'improve the seashore' in terms of architecture and urbandevelopment. He convincingly demonstrates that military factors, in combination with a wide range of other influences, were fundamental to the indigenous process of urbandevelopment. I suggest three items on an agenda for the politicaleconomical analysis of urbandevelopment below.
