Three basic areas of strategiccompetence are identified: goal setting, planning, and assessment. They take into account notions of language competence, strategiccompetence, sociocultural competence, textual competence, and so on. One educational implication would be that teachers instruct their students to develop their strategiccompetence in the suggested categories. The teachers were also asked to assess the children's strategiccompetence and personality traits using the relevant rating scales. In other words, it can contribute centrally to grammatical competence, textual competence, illocutionary competence, sociolinguistic competence, and strategiccompetence. The use of genuine authentic documents - as opposed to carefully composed authentic documents - is perhaps one way of increasing strategiccompetence. In tests based on the second model, strategiccompetence takes precedence over linguistic accuracy. This makes the strategiccompetence planning and monitoring scores difficult to interpret as measures of communicative competence because they are more language independent than the other components of communicative competence. Strategiccompetence involves the ability to make the most effective use of available abilities to carry out a given task.
