A subsample of 20 randomly chosen plants was partitioned into stem, leaf, petiole, peduncle and fruit components and oven dried. In both cases, the infloresences are generally similar in size except for the peduncles of the male inflorescences which are longer than the female's. The caudal peduncle is very short and deep. It lies within the dorsal peduncle of the lateral forebrain bundle and has circuitry similar to that of mammals. Panicles harvested for seed are kept separately in the granary and may be left with longer peduncles for identification. However, an increase in the heaving amplitude of the peduncle decrcases the value of the optimum sweep until the latter becomes zero. For samaras shredded into pieces, we counted the number of peduncles in the collection. In the chiropterophilous species the capitula are much larger and typically borne on long, pendent peduncles arranged in little-branched inflorescences. Most pre-first birth worms born on the caudal fin, remained on this fin, but did occasionally move on to the peduncle. The remaining bulk sample was separated into fruit and vegetative components, including peduncles, and air-dried. Each peduncle normally bears 1+4 -owers, though in some conditions up to 7 -owers per in-orescence have been found. The corresponding optimum efficiency may be further enhanced by moderately increasing the heaving amplitude of the major pitch axis (peduncle) as long as the assumption of small perturbations remains adequate. The clamps, each borne on a long peduncle, are all about the same size and measure 160 (140-200) /an in width and 100 (90-130) /an in length. Pods in both species do not fall to the ground at maturity, and remain attached for several months to the tree crown by their elongated peduncles. With the exception of the peduncle immediately adjacent to the caudal fin, migrating worms were not found on the skin for more than 2 consecutive daily observations. Moreover, the wide posterior extension of the dorsal fin and the reduced size of the caudal peduncle could indicate that the adipose fin was absent or, at least, poorly developed. The inflorescence is a spike of many small flowers arising from the water on a peduncle. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license.
