The composition of these functors will give a method of transforming a high-level type-system description into a machinecode analyzer. It has the flavour of machinecode, with combinators playing the role of program addresses and parameterization the role of register transfer. Consequently, the final machinecode will also be more efficient. More generally, we could imagine generating some form of abstract machinecode as programs are parsed. It also leaves several options open for compilation to target machinecode. The verifier is able to prove memory safety of x86 machinecode programs compiled from code that uses algebraic datatypes. The display representation would then be one or more bitmaps augmented by custom-generated machinecode. The abstract machinecode is optimized in compile-time by referring to the result of dataflow analysis with abstract interpretation. Next, we describe a particular completed application of that library, a memory safety verifier for machinecode programs that use algebraic datatypes. The switches are not (usually) conceived of as such but as sequences of ones and zeros, as machinecode, or even as high-level programming code. In particular, we have developed a framework for coding certified program verifiers for x86 machinecode programs. Since no compiled machinecode is involved, unloading such abstract machines is easier than unloading an abstract machine based on compiled code. We cannot improve on this without direct access to machinecode. The generated (high-level) code corresponds closely to machinecode, and should compile into a light-weight subroutine. Finally, the abstract machinecode is translated to binary code for a specific target. By introducing random changes in the machinecode (mutations) and limiting the supply of raw materials, one would simulate dynamics of selective pressures. In a compiler, dynamic semantics determines the machinecode to be generated. To make programs run fast, many implementations compile the reduction rules into machinecode, even though this may produce a lot of code. The main thing to notice is that the semantics follows precisely a conservative subset of the programmer-level idea of the "real" semantics of x86 machinecode. Then polymorphism will work: at run time, polymorphic variables will be passed from one place to another by machinecode that is oblivious of its actual type. The abstract machine is given an operational semantics using a state transition system, and compilation rules are given for converting a functional program into abstract machinecode. For these regions, a static compiler produces machinecode templates with holes for run-time constant values; the rest of the program is just compiled in the usual way. He then used increasingly more machinecode in an effort to produce magazine games of equal quality to commercial titles.
