Examples of long memory

Language has a longmemory, and centuries of commercial and maritime rivalry are not easily forgotten.
Note that longmemory may create persistent volatility.
When = 0, the process has standard longmemory and when is a seasonal frequency the process is said to have seasonal longmemory.
A value of d = 0 would indicate the absence of longmemory, whereas d significantly above zero speaks in favor of long-term dependence.
This, in turn, means that the dependence structure is short memory and not longmemory.
