Detecting the complements of a verb is an interesting application of lexicalacquisition. One reason adjectives have been neglected in the lexicalacquisition literature may be that they are proportionately few in children's early productive lexicons. This supports the notion that children are tuning their parsing preferences in the process of lexicalacquisition. This statistical procedure, however, cannot cover all aspects of lexicalacquisition. This organization has the potential to influence lexicalacquisition. These three experiments tested two predictions that follow from the hypothesis that categorization is used as a tool in lexicalacquisition. The study of lexicalacquisition is complex and the methods used are not entirely reliable, with different methods yielding somewhat different results. Evidence from this study suggests that homonyms are in fact dispreferred in lexicalacquisition. Investigation of the influence of these variables over the time course of lexicalacquisition may support or refute this account. These authors have suggested that adults who help infants maintain focus of attention while naming the referent aid lexicalacquisition. If a null effect of neighborhood density is obtained, then this would suggest that other factors are stronger determinants of lexicalacquisition in naturalistic contexts. Alternatively, this influence of neighborhood density on lexicalacquisition may be robust across both controlled and naturalistic settings. They could also proceed with lexicalacquisition, and perhaps even the vocabulary spurt, before it was fully in place. The use of corpora has resulted in systems that can cope with unrestricted text and use sophisticated techniques for lexicalacquisition. In order to see how viable this interactional approach to meaning acquisition might be, we need to examine the conversational contexts of lexicalacquisition. To rule out the confounding effects of correlated variables, the effects of word frequency and word length on lexicalacquisition were also examined. Empirical studies provide direct evidence that neighborhood density influences lexicalacquisition. The investigation considers whether a negotiation routine's complexity affects learner uptake and if this uptake affects lexicalacquisition in a synchronous computer-mediated environment. In sum, these results are consistent with previous findings in the acquisition literature that increased exposure to language results in better lexicalacquisition skills.
