Workers in these two departments were exposed to lead compounds used in the decoration of pottery ware and were consequently at risk of leadpoisoning.
Gradually the impact of these changes brought about a reduction in the incidence of occupational disease, particularly the number of leadpoisoning cases.
This combination, however, does not always work perfectly, as for example in the case of lead poisoning, a serious, long-term, environmental threat to children.
One hypothesis is that contact with oils containing c'ruse (white lead) e or minium (red lead), both now banned, as one might say, led to leadpoisoning.
This is good news, in that leadpoisoning often has serious negative repercussions on children's physical and cognitive development.
