Twenty-nine suspected rebels were sentenced to remain imprisoned without bail, thirteen were granted bail to appear at the next assizes, and twenty-nine more were freed by proclamation. He was forced to the trouble of obtaining a trial by special jury at the next assizes, and sent detailed advice to ensure a list of suitably compliant jurors.
