The observations of ivory gulls at sea presented here are consistent with this. These observations suggest that ivory gulls are not as opportunistic as other gulls. The factors contributing to the similarity between digenean parasite assemblages parasitizing the black-headed gull were investigated. A thorough search in the early evening failed to show any ivory gulls at all. The gull could not reply to that, and so the raven had won. On three of the four occasions when the ship encountered a polar bear, ivory gulls were also present. Between 1940-41 and 1991-93 the species richness of digeneans declined drastically in common gulls, herring gulls and great black-backed gulls. All ivory gulls were observed in small areas of open water in large expanses covered with mostly solid sea ice. Remains of these were found in gull faeces nearby. Of the four bears seen during the 1993 cruise, three had ivory gulls associated with them. In contrast, no ivory gulls were observed near this community in 2002. In the afternoon 10 ivory gulls (six adults, and four juveniles) were observed on the east side of the bay. No ivory gulls were observed along the western side, including the community dump. In 1993, most of the ivory gulls seen on the cruise were flying. The authors saw a total of 74 ivory gulls in 1993 and 17 in 2002. All domestic animal and gull isolates were identical with both methods. In terms of the availability of cliff habitats for gull colonies, most of the coastal terrain in the region appeared to be occupied. All the ivory gulls observed were in adult plumage (all white, no black speckling). The ivory gulls observed could have been breeders feeding at sea, failed breeders, or non-breeding birds. These parasites then appear in the gastropods at the sites to which the gulls are attracted. The second starts off being a small gull and then flies rightward by a greater degree, becoming bigger on each frame. A few scattered gulls are found to feed particularly on the smaller snails available. These examples are from corpora and from sources on the web.
