The rates of falserecall using this paradigm can rival that of true recall for both children and adults. This is followed by an analysis of children's falserecall. To extend our knowledge regarding false memory processes among maltreated children, we examined children's falserecall of words not presented. In addition, the concurrent examination of dissociation and falserecall for self-referent stimuli addresses a significant gap in the false memory literature among maltreated children. Thus, our findings support the notion that experience of maltreatment does not render children more or less susceptible to falserecall. Rather, differences in the affective valence of falserecall emerged as a function of maltreatment subtype and age. However, no study has examined false memories for self-relevant information among maltreated children, nor has the relationship between maltreatment and falserecall on dissociation been concurrently examined. These caveats aside, the research that does exist indicates that maltreated children are no poorer or better than other children at correct recall, falserecall, or resisting misinformation. That is, we were interested in ascertaining whether there were differences in the quantity and affective valence of children's falserecall as a function of their maltreatment history. Because of this, the respondent has a falserecall. From Wikipedia This example is from Wikipedia and may be reused under a CC BY-SA license. In fact, with the second experiment the results were 55% falserecall rate compared to 40% for the first experiment.
